Intentional living and the power of words
Words are magic.
They speak reality into existence.
Words can create an oasis in a seemingly infinite desert, or they can turn vast oceans into wastelands.
Words shape our carefully curated narratives. Even when we’re not consciously aware of it.
Sometimes these narratives speak the truth. Other times, they construct a very limited framework that is often passed on through generations. We rarely question these frameworks.
Either way, words cast spells.
They become the house we live in, as Hafiz once wrote. Words stick to the furniture of the house, to the ceilings and floors of the buildings that we walk through every day. They attach themselves to everything, even to our cells and shape the stories of individuals, families, schools, offices, countries… Ultimately, they shape our collective, global narrative.
So what if we started using words intentionally? What if we started to construct intentional narratives for this planet? One by one. What would the world look like and how would reality shift?
We’re not powerless, we’ve never been powerless. Because we’ve always had words and power is often as subtle as words. So what if we actually started to believe that we have the power to move the needle?
This too is the art of intentional living. So which spells are you casting today?
Tip!
If you want to become more aware of the words you speak on a daily basis and feel more empowered and intentional, ask a friend or family member to pay attention and take notes. You can also keep a small notebook with you and write them down as you go. If you do this for a couple of weeks or even days, you will immediately notice a pattern. You’ll discover whether your words tend to lift you and your environment up, or bring the both of you down.
This might seem silly at first but I assure you that becoming more mindful of the words you speak, will have you realize how powerful you actually are.
Consider this to be a fun, little experiment. Will you let me know how it goes?
Good luck! 😉
Love,
Wendy
