The promise of a new puppy!

I got some exciting news!!! I’m adopting a new puppy!

I had told myself I would wait a little longer after Milly passed away, but the truth is that the house has been quiet and the amount of dogs in need of a warm and safe home is overwhelming. So I saw this little girl’s snoot and I was immediately sold as I felt my fur momma instinct kick in. They brought her entire litter to the shelter. There are 4 females (including my puppy) and 1 male and I am hoping the remaining 4 will find their forever homes soon. If it wasn’t for the husband, I would’ve adopted 2 or maybe more, ha!

Why I choose to adopt

The puppy, whose name I will not share just yet (just to keep you in suspense), is from the same shelter where I got Emma from back in 2019. A Romanian shelter where the animals live in horrible conditions because there is barely any government funding for it. The reason why dogs and cats make it out of there and into Belgian and Dutch homes, is because a couple of Dutch women have started an organization to help the shelter. If you are interested in supporting this organization, have a look at their website https://www.stichtingcare4shelterdogs.nl/ or follow them on Instagram.

Getting the house puppy proof!

Well Emma, Marlow and I already had an official meeting regarding this subject and everyone seems to be thrilled about it. Though Marlow needed to be assured that his position as ‘King of this house’ will be protected at all times. As you all know, Marlow is the ultimate bougie baby and no one puts him in a corner. All kidding aside, I’m sure they will love the new puppy once everyone is well adjusted to the new situation. I remember quite well how taken Marlow was by Emma when we first adopted her. They’re still besties to this day.

So, a puppy proof house is a house that first and foremost welcomes the puppy wholeheartedly and if anything, our house was built for it. When I was a child, I dreamed of having a house full of animals, dogs in particular. There are plenty of comfortable beds, soft blankets, snacks and food, a huge basket full of toys and plenty of love. A dream I have for every dog!

Buying the essentials

Though the house, is in of itself already extremely dog friendly, I did do some shopping this week. I bought some extra soft (and yes, pink!) blankets, a carpet, cute puppy toys, a licking mat, snacks, puppy food and a vaporizer which helps to reduce stress and anxiety.  I’m still planning on ordering a beautiful name tag too.

I’m so excited, can you tell?!

Okay I have to go now, off to pick up the puppy.

Stay tuned!
